Parent council
On behalf of the Parents Council of Arkana College we would like to welcome you and your child to our school and hope your association with our school will be a happy and friendly one.
The Parent Council (PC) is the volunteer parent body working with the school. The roles of the PC are
- To promote the interests of the school by providing opportunities for parents, pupils and teaching staff to work in close cooperation
- To provide a forum for educational issues
- To promote educationat Arkana College by supplementing educational and recreational facilities. This is facilitated by fund raising for resources and providing volunteers for academic support programs and extra curricular activities including sport, carnivals, camps and excursions
- To advise the Principal and Board of Directors in matters relating to the material requirements of the school (i.e. building maintenance, alterations etc)
- To support the activities of the Principal and Board of Directors with educational and extra curricular programs
- To do all other such things that may promote the education and well being of students at Arkana College
- To help prepare and plan for major events including carnivals, special occassions (e.g. annual iftar), ceremonies and hosting official visitors to the school. This is done in close collaboration with the Principal or other personnel appointed by the Principal
- The Parent Council has office bearers who are elected at the annual AGM.
