Arkana College is engaged in a variety of student centred activities that contribute to a dynamic extra curricular program. Some of the more prominent activities are listed below. Further down the page is more information on these activities

Arkana College has a vibrant SRC who are elected annually. The SRC have numerous duties including
SRC help teachers supervise special areas of the school such as toilets, canteen, wudu, prayer time,clean?liness of the school grounds,?play area for younger children etc.
To help younger students during recess,lunch and assembly?times.
To bring to SRC meetings students’ ideas & opinions for improving the school. The SRC also represents the school at official functions and may be required to give speeches
The SRC is headed by the school captaincy team (boy/girl captain and vice captain)
INTER SCHOOL EXCHANGES Arkana College participates in a number of exchanges with stuents from other schools. This includes other Islamic schools, other independent schools and also government schools. This program keeps our students aware of the issues in different communities and allows exposure to a wide cross section of the Australian community. Awareness is created of different cultures, religions and traditions thus enriching the lives of those involved. Our relationship with St. Ives Public School is particularly strong and beyond vsits to each others schools we also work on joint community service projects and attend a joint excursion.
?HALAQA Halaqa operates each morning between 8:30 - 8:55. During Halaqa children are given the opportunity to memorise parts of the Holy Quran and other prayers
SCHOOL CHOIR Arkana has an established choir that perform at assemblies and other functions. Choir practice is held each week
ZONE SPORT Arkana competes in the ASSISA WEST school zone. We are the curent girls soccer champions ! Winter sport is soccer and summer sport is oztag (boys) and netball (girls). Arkana also competes in a number of friendly matches against other schools in a variety of sport
SPORTArkana offers a wide variety of House sport and other activities during PDH lessons. Arkana also competes in?athletics and cross country?carnivals
DRAMA The school has a Drama Club which meets each week. Excursions to the theatre are part of the curriculum
AFTER SCHOOL SPORT Arkana offers the Australian Sport Commission After School Sport Program on Monday to Wednesday afternoons where children engage in a variety of supervised sporting activities.
ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS The school participates in a large variety of extra curricular academic competitions including

- Creative Writing
- Poetry
- ACIES Public speaking
- A large number of in school competitions
EXCURSIONS Excursions are an important part of the Arkana curriculum and most classes atend two excursions a term. Canberra, Maritime Museum, Harbour Bridge Walk, SFS/SCG tour, Fairfield City Farm and Sydney Airport are just some of the excursion destinations vsited in 2008
CAMPS Yr. 4-6 students have the opportunity to attend an annual school camp. In 2008 the camp will be between 10-12 December at Point Wollestoncroft on the shores of Lake Macquarie
Yr. 6 GRADUATION AND DAY OUT The Yr. 6 graduation is an?important part of the school calendar as is the Yr. 6 DAY OUT. This is a special excursion for the graduating Yr. 6 class. In 2008 the DAY OUT will be a daytrip to Movie World on the Gold Coast!
ASSEMBLIES These are held every second Wednesday afternoon and often include a choir presentation! Parents are welcome to attend!
PRESENTATION NIGHT An annual awards night with students performances. The 2008 Presentation night will be on 15th December at the St. George Bank Auditorium, Kograh (5:30-7:30)
ISLAMIC OCCASIONS Special assemblies/events to commemorate significant occasions on the Islamic calendar including Milad an Nabi, Badr/Uhud, Isra wal Miraj, Laylatul Qadr and the Islamic New Year.
PRINCIPALS AND PARENT COUNCIL LUNCH The Principal and Parent Council will take turns each week to provide a lunch for students to purchase. Funds raised are used to improve school facilities. A BBQ, Hot Dogs, Pizza, Chicken and Chips, Burgers and Fish and Chips are some of the items on the menu.
HARMONY DAY Students wear orange and engage in a number of fun activities on this important day which acknowledges the diversity which makes Australia special.
ANZAC CEREMONY Our SRC attend an official schools ANZAC ceremony and we also have our own school ANZAC ceremony attended by ex servicemen/women.
END OF YEAR PICNIC A picnic is organised for the last day of the school year. The 2008 picnic will be held at Carrs Park on Wednesday December 17th
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART At this fund raising event students get sponsored to skip for a length of time.
CHARITY Charity is an important part of the Islamic faith and an important characterstic of being an Australian. Arkana College proudly supports the following charities
- Heart Foundation
- Pink Ribbon Day (Breast cancer)
- Yellow Ribbon Day (Cancer)
- Red Nose Day (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
- Circus Quirkus ( A circus for physically/mentally handicapped children)
- Build a well Program. We aim to build a well each year in the developing world through Muslim Aid
- Orial Khaira School. A sister school we sponsor for war affected children in Afghanistan through Mehbobas Promise School Sponsorship Program
- Build a Mosque Program. We aim to build a mosque a year in Bangladesh where many mosques are in ruins due to flood damage
- Clothing Bin which provides clothing, blankets, shoes and towels to the needy in the Middle East, Africa and Sub - Continent. This is done through Australian Releif Aid
