Welcome to our community

Welcome to Arkana College and thank you for taking the time to visit our website!

We are proud of our school which over the years has built up a fine tradition of academic achievement, sporting prowess and good citizenship. Arkana College’s educational programs are concentrated on the development of all attitudes, skills and knowledge that students need to succeed in today’s complex and changing society. At Arkana we encourage our students to be responsible citizens and proud Australians. Developing this sense of identity also includes instruction in Arabic, Islamic Studies and the Holy Quran so that students develop a knowledge and a deep sense of pride in their Islamic heritage.

If your child is a student at Arkana College we encourage you to become partners in your child’s education by playing an active role. We encourage you to talk to your child about school and to be aware of what they are doing, but most importantly we encourage you to enjoy your child’s time at our school

Arkana College is a registered and certified independent, non-government, primary school which was first established in 1960, and currently run completely by a Muslim board of directors. Our aim is to make Arkana College an advanced educational institute for Muslim Children.

The School’s aim is to achieve the Islamic educational goals harmoniously with the Australian community in which we live. The children should be both Muslims and Australian citizens. We hope to give them both these values in their education. Working towards this aim should not compromise our Islamic ideals in any way. Having both Muslim and non-Muslim children and staff in the school, reflects the mixed society in which the children must live.

As soon as Muslim students are enrolled, they are introduced to Islamic teaching and the teaching of Arabic language according to their level. The school is always searching for ways to improve the quality and the quantity of time available for Islamic and Arabic language lessons.

Arkana College is also member of the Association of Independent Schools (AIS), the Independent Schools Council of Australia (ISCA) and the Australian Council for Education in Islamic Schools (ACIES - the umbrella organisation representing the Islamic schools sector).

All our teaching programs are registered with the Board of Studies NSW and the school was awarded the maximum five year registration in 2007.

The school enjoys a dynamic extra curricular program that keeps our students engaged both in and out of the classroom and the school is on an ambitous program to improve technology in the classrooms so that our students will be well placed to be a part of the so called Digital Revolution.

Our School Board

A separate Board oversees all aspects of school procedures lending advice on organisation and events and being active in financial and development decisions. Many of the schools original founders are current members of the school Board. Their experience and expertise has ensured that Arkana College has been able to flourish over the last two decades.
